A little bit about the friendly webguru

Oh, you want to know about 'me'? Okay :-)

First off, "I'm not from around here......." :-) I come from Australia. I was born in England, lived in Malaysia and Singapore in the 60's and then my family moved to Australia back in 1970. So I spent most of my life in Australia, and have now lived in Oklahoma, USA for the past ten years. And why did I come to Oklahoma? I met my husband Ron online, and moved here when we married :-)

We lived in Guymon and Goodwell for 9 years, then we moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma in 2006. So I'm now based in Chickasha, but a lot of my clients are in Guymon, and some in the Texas panhandle.

I've been writing web pages for about 10 years. Yes, I did start with the free pages at Tripod, etc! I fiddled around with them, all the while enjoying what I was doing, and wanting to learn more. When we owned movie theatres I wrote the website for our theatres, plus did the newsletter and updated the websites frequently (movie theatres have lots of edits with Coming Soons, etc!) After writing my own website for years for our own business, it convinced me that was what I wanted to do for a living, given the chance.

Well I got that chance, after we got out of the movie theatre business, and now write websites full time out of my home office. I've discovered the true meaning of 'do what you love, and you will never have to work another day in your life' :-)

Over the years I've sought out books, forums, tutorials and software, and basically taught myself 'everything I know'. Okay, so I'm not a rocket scientist, and don't have a fancy degree like some out there, but I do know my way around a website! :-)

The last few months have been spent reading up on PHP and databases, and moving into 'dynamic' websites, plus looking more at the graphics side of things, so that I can offer my clients more on their websites.
