2008 Run Report:
(2008 Flyer here)

Hello Riders,

The 2008 6th Annual 5-State Ride was a HUGE Success.  Riders from the five states surrounding Oklahoma attended as well a few from Ohio, Nebraska, and Iowa.  There were 920 registered bikes hauling 1,178 riders & passengers through the five states on a very windy day.  Nonetheless, everyone braved the wind to sit down to a wonderful BBQ meal at the end of the run.  Unfortunately, one bike went down on Hwy 406 in New Mexico and the rider suffered a broken leg.

Terrance Hager of Texhoma, OK was awarded $2,000 for a full house, sixes over fives.  Awards are also given for the next two highest hands as well as the oldest rider, youngest rider and youngest passenger.  Over 50 door prizes were handed out and the 50/50 drawing netted three lucky winners some serious cash!

Riders have from 7:15am til 5pm to run the 300 miles through five states but with all the attractions along the way, it is sometimes hard to make it back to Guymon before the dinner bell rings.  This year, riders saw antelope, bear, rabbits, free range cattle, and turkeys (the foul, not the people kind) along the route.  The dinosaur tracks at Black Mesa are always fun to see and everyone would like more time to spend at the Morton County Museum viewing the displays or enjoying the home-baked cookies provided by the museum staff.

We do our best to clearly mark the route and create a map that is easy to follow.  We just haven't figured out what to do about the jokers who remove some of the signs along the way.

Unfortunately we are unable to do anything about the weather, but we strive to improve the run every year.  We apologize for the wait some riders had to endure in the registration lines, but we have a plan for 2009.

Enjoy the photos of the 2008 run and also go to www.bikerallyphotos.com to check out the photos by Southern Exposure.

We sincerely thank each of you who attended the run.  All proceeds are donated to community residents with medical or financial needs.

We hope you all plan to come back for the 5-State Run on Saturday, May 9, 2009 (rain, shine or windy weather).  Be sure to make your hotel reservations early as the hotels fill up quick.

See you in 2009,

The Iron Thunder Motorcycle Club
